The Gradebook requires an active family license and is available only to the primary adult. Each course can use the grading approach that fits its curriculum, and no calculated result becomes official without parent review.

Open and filter the Gradebook

  1. Open More, then Records.

    Choose Gradebook.

  2. Choose a learner or subject when needed.

Leave either filter set to All to see everything currently available.

  3. Choose a reporting period.

All work shows the full course. A full school year or saved quarter, trimester, or semester shows only work scheduled inside those dates.

Choose the grading method

Every course chooses its method independently:

  • Ungraded / feedback only — keep narrative observations without a calculated grade.
  • Points — enter points earned and points possible. Tasked With calculates the percentage.
  • Percentage — enter a percentage for each graded lesson. Tasked With shows the average.
  • Letter grade — choose A+ through F for each graded lesson. The Gradebook shows the distribution without inventing a numeric average.
  • Mastery — choose Not yet, Developing, Mastered, or Exceeds for each graded lesson.

Use the Grading method control on the course card, then Save. A course with scored grades cannot silently change to a different method; remove those scores first if the curriculum’s grading approach must change. Narrative feedback can remain.

Add a grade or feedback

Completed lessons and lessons marked Ready for review appear for grading. Choose Add grade or Add feedback beside the lesson. Enter the fields for the course method and add an optional feedback note. You can return later to edit or explicitly remove the entry.

Choose the calculation

Points and Percentage courses include Grade setup:

  • Overall course result uses all current numeric grades together.
  • Weighted categories lets you create up to 20 course categories. Category weights must total exactly 100%.

Use common categories to begin with Assignments 40%, Quizzes 20%, Tests 30%, and Projects 10%, or add your own names and weights. Every scored item in a weighted course must have a category. A category already used by a grade cannot be removed until those entries are moved or cleared.

A category without grades does not lower the current result. Tasked With shows how much configured weight is currently represented and normalizes the categories that have grades.

Create and use a custom grading scale

Choose Grading scales at the top of the Gradebook to create reusable labels for numeric course results. Enter a scale name and two or more levels, including one level that begins at 0%. For example, A may begin at 90%, B at 80%, and F at 0%.

Open Grade setup for a Points or Percentage course and select the scale under Result scale. The percentage calculation stays visible and unchanged; the matching label is shown beside it. The same scale can be used by multiple courses. A scale in use cannot be removed until those courses return to Percentage only or select another scale.

If scale thresholds or labels change later, a previously confirmed calculated final grade remains unchanged and is marked for review.

Set reusable reporting periods

Choose Reporting periods at the top of the Gradebook. Select the school year, then choose Quarterly, Trimester, or Semester. Tasked With prepares the expected number of periods and starting dates:

  • Quarterly — four periods, commonly nine weeks each.
  • Trimester — three periods, commonly twelve weeks each.
  • Semester — two periods, commonly eighteen weeks each.

Review each name, start date, and end date before saving. Periods must remain inside the school year and cannot overlap. The saved periods become Gradebook filters and provide the starting dates for new report cards. A report card already saved keeps its reviewed dates.

Confirm a final course grade

In All work, choose Set final grade for the learner and course. You may explicitly save the current calculated result or enter a short manual value such as A, 92%, Pass, or Mastered. A custom scale label is used when the calculated numeric course has one.

If a score, category, weight, calculation method, or selected scale changes later, the saved calculated final remains unchanged and is marked Calculation changed — review. Open it, review the new result, and save again only when it is correct.
