Getting started

Is Tasked With free to use?

Yes. Core family planning, courses, lessons, schedules, Student Mode, routines, activities, and basic printing are available without a license. Recordkeeping, Smart Rebalancing, AI course import, Portfolio Builder, and integrations require an active Family License.

Is the family name required during signup?

No. The family name is optional. You can enter a surname such as Smith, a phrase such as Smith Family, or your family’s preferred wording.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification confirms that you control the address used for the primary adult account. Open the Tasked With message, select Verify email, and then sign in after the confirmation dialog appears.

I did not receive the verification email. What should I do?

Check your junk or spam folder, confirm that the address on the sign-in screen is correct, and request a new verification message. Use only the newest link because verification links are single-use.

How many adults and learners can a family have?

A family can have one primary adult, one additional adult, and up to five active learners. Archived learners do not count toward the active learner limit.

Courses and planning

Where should I begin after creating an account?

Add your learners, confirm the homeschool calendar, create the first course, add or import its lessons, and schedule lessons for the first learner. Then review the current week in Planner.

Do I have to schedule the whole course at once?

No. Select the learner first, then the course, and choose One Day, One Week, or Entire Remaining Course. Return later from the course or an eligible empty planner week to schedule more. Existing scheduled lesson dates do not change.

Does Tasked With change my plan automatically?

No. Schedule previews, moves, and Smart Rebalancing proposals are previews until the primary adult reviews and confirms them.

What is the difference between School and Family items?

Lessons and school-type routines or activities appear in the School plan. Family-type routines, family activities, and Daily Notes appear in the Family plan. Combined shows both.

How are course and learner colors used?

The course color provides a gentle fill and full-strength dot on lessons. The learner color provides the outline, so you can recognize both subject and ownership at a glance.

What does Needs Help mean?

Needs Help is a lesson status a learner or primary adult can use when assistance is needed. Those lessons remain visible in the current week’s Needs Attention section on Today until their status changes.

Can I move one lesson without shifting the rest of a course?

Yes. Choose Move on the lesson, select a date, and choose the single-lesson option. You can also preview shifting that learner’s remaining open lessons in the course.

What happens when I add a planned break after lessons are scheduled?

The break is saved to the family calendar first. If lessons fall inside it, choose which affected learners should pause, then preview every old and new date before applying. Selecting a learner includes all of that learner’s affected subjects. You can instead keep lessons on their current dates for learners who may continue working during the break.

Can I undo lesson shifts when I remove a planned break?

Yes. If the break created an applied shift, the removal review selects Undo the lesson shifts by default. Clear that option to remove only the break and keep the newer dates. If later lesson edits conflict with restoration, Tasked With stops instead of overwriting them.

What does Smart Rebalancing consider?

It compares each learner’s planned learning time with available capacity over the selected week and the following week. Timed routines and activities can be included or excluded in the family settings.

Can I dismiss a workload warning?

Yes. Dismissing a warning removes its alert and visual outline while that exact workload remains unchanged. A meaningful plan change can create a new warning.

Family and Student Mode

Is Student Mode a separate learner account?

No. Student Mode is a focused shared-device view. A learner enters with their PIN, and an adult password is required to return to the adult workspace.

Can learners see every family member’s work?

No. Student Mode shows the selected learner’s permitted lessons and timed routines or activities assigned to that learner.

Can learners see to-dos assigned to their name?

No. To-dos are private organizational reminders for the primary adult. Choosing a learner’s name only helps the adult group the reminder; it does not send the to-do to Student Mode or make it visible to that learner.

Can a learner attach work when submitting a lesson?

Yes, with an active Family License and parent-enabled review and file-upload permissions. A learner may attach up to ten supported files plus an optional note. The primary adult can review the files on Today, optionally grade the lesson, and add selected work to the portfolio.

Can another adult manage everything?

No. The additional adult can help with the shared calendar and everyday family planning, but primary-adult-only controls protect learners, licenses, curriculum, progress, and formal records.

Can I archive a learner without losing records?

Yes. Archiving removes a learner from active planning while preserving their history. You can restore the learner when an active slot is available.

Can I customize the main menu?

With an active Family License, the primary adult can drag visible menu items into any order or use their arrow controls from Menu preferences in the profile’s Appearance section. Today, Planner, and Courses are always shown. Progress, Attendance, and Grades are on by default, while Status Board, Printables, and To-dos are off by default; Status Board goes to the top when first enabled.

Can I choose which screen opens after I sign in?

Yes. Open your adult profile and use Default screen on login in the Today section. Today is the default, and the dropdown includes the screens currently available in your main menu. If an optional destination is later hidden or unavailable, Tasked With opens Today instead.

Records, licenses, and printing

Which records require a Family License?

Progress, attendance, gradebook, portfolios, report cards, and transcripts all require an active Family License.

How much learner file storage is included?

Each learner has up to 1 GB, and the family has up to 5 GB total. Learner submissions and adult portfolio uploads share those limits. Adding an existing file to a portfolio does not make a copy or count it twice.

How do I find or remove a learner submission?

Open Records, then Learner Files. Search by filename, title, or tag; filter by folder; organize the file; or permanently delete it after confirmation to free storage.

Does Tasked With sell licenses inside the app?

No. Payments and license delivery happen outside the app. The primary adult activates the provided key from Family License.

What happens when a license expires?

Core planning remains available. Licensed controls become unavailable until a valid license is activated again; existing family planning data is not removed.

Can I print in color or black and white?

Yes. Choose Color or Black & White before creating the preview. Color is selected by default, and printed checkboxes remain white for legibility.

How does automatic attendance work?

Attendance can be inferred from completed school work according to the attendance rules. The primary adult can use the Simple calendar or Advanced view to add, change, or clear a manual mark. With more than one learner, choose All learners on the Simple calendar to mark everyone at once.

Privacy and troubleshooting

How do I change my password?

Open More, choose Security, and use the password controls for the signed-in adult. You can also review and revoke other signed-in sessions there.

Can I export my family data?

Yes. The primary adult can request a family data export from the privacy and family-data controls. The ZIP includes every ready learner file, including submissions that are not part of a portfolio.

Can I delete the family account?

Yes. The primary adult can start deletion after reviewing the impact and confirmation steps. Contact support within the stated recovery period if the request needs to be reversed.

Why is an item missing from Today?

Confirm that it is scheduled for today. School routines and activities must use a school type; Family Rhythm shows only family-type items scheduled for the current day. Learner filtering can also hide items assigned to someone else.

Why can’t I use a licensed feature?

Open Family License and confirm that the license is active. Some features are also limited to the primary adult even when the family has an active license.

Why does a printed page look different from the planner?

Print templates simplify the on-screen layout for paper. Confirm the chosen template, learner, date range, and Color or Black & White option before creating the preview.

What should I include when contacting support?

Describe what you expected, what happened, the page you were using, and the approximate time. Include a screenshot only when it does not expose information you prefer to keep private.
