Let a learner update work and request review

Understand Planned, In progress, Ready for review, Completed, and Skipped learner states.

FreeAdults and learners

Learner permissions determine which work actions appear in Student Mode.

  • Planned means the lesson is ready but not started.
  • In progress means the learner has started the lesson.
  • Ready for review asks the primary adult to review the work.
  • Completed means the lesson is accepted as finished.
  • Skipped keeps the lesson visible but leaves it out of the learner’s progress percentage.

A planned lesson shows only Start. After the learner starts it, any saved Access resource appears first, followed by I need help and then Submit for review when that permission is enabled. These actions stay together on wider screens and stack on smaller screens. The Access button is hidden after submission or completion.

When work is Ready for review, the primary adult sees it on Today. Approve it to complete the lesson, or return it with feedback. From Status Board, the adult can mark it Revise to request corrections or Redo to request that the lesson be completed again from the beginning. Either choice returns it to In progress. The adult may add an optional note describing what to change. Learner Today shows Revision requested or Redo requested, explains what that means, and displays the adult’s note above the usual work actions. Needs Grading instead keeps the lesson Ready for review and appears as a matching chip on its Today review card. With Gradebook access, choose Enter grade on that card to record the course’s points, percentage, letter, or mastery result plus optional feedback. Saving writes directly to Gradebook and clears the Needs Grading chip while leaving the lesson ready for approval. Submitting revised or redone work clears the temporary status and note automatically. Changes affect only that learner’s work even when siblings share the same course outline.
