Add a planned break and review lesson shifts

Choose the affected learners, preview every lesson date, keep lessons in place when needed, and undo shifts when removing a break.

A planned break belongs to the family calendar, but moving existing lessons is always a separate choice. Tasked With never silently changes a saved schedule.

  1. Add the break.

Open More, choose School Year Setup, and enter the start date, end date, Break or vacation type, and your description. The break applies to the family calendar across the complete date range.

  2. Choose the affected learners.

If saved lessons fall inside the break, a review opens automatically. Each affected learner appears once. Selecting a learner includes every affected subject and lesson schedule for that learner; clear a learner only when their lessons should stay where they are.

Select learners at the family level. Nothing moves until you review and apply the exact changes.
  3. Decide whether lessons should move.

Choose Keep lessons on current dates when learners may continue working during a vacation or trip. The break remains visible on the calendar, and the lessons remain available on their original dates. Choose Preview changes when the selected learners should pause school work.

  4. Review every proposed date.

The preview groups changes by learner and subject and lists each old date beside its proposed new date. Shifts use each course’s learning days, skip other no-learning dates, and preserve course order. Approve any explained school-year extension or date conflict before applying.

Apply only after the learner count, lesson count, and old-to-new dates are correct.
  5. Rename it when needed.

Choose Edit beside a saved break or special day. The focused dialog changes only its name; the dates, planned-day type, and any lesson shifts already reviewed remain unchanged.

  6. Confirm the planner result.

Week and Month show an orange Planned Break banner followed by the description you entered. Year uses a matching orange date marker. A lesson intentionally left on the date remains visible below the banner.

The stronger orange treatment distinguishes planned breaks from ordinary weekends and holiday reference labels.
  7. Review removal and undo.

When a break has an applied lesson shift, removing it opens a final review with Undo the lesson shifts selected. Leave it selected to restore the earlier dates, or clear it to remove only the break and keep the shifted schedule. If later edits make restoration unsafe, Tasked With stops and explains the conflict instead of overwriting those changes.

Removing the calendar break and restoring shifted lessons remain one explicit, reviewable choice.
